Absolutely. The ALMA Mama & Baby Oil provides a lot of moisture and effectively prevents stretch marks. It ensures better blood circulation and promotes skin elasticity. To be used either as a body oil or as a bath additive.
Regular massages promote well-being. Your baby’s too. The unborn child receives more oxygen through the umbilical cord and feels the heat generated.
The great thing about ALMA oil is that it is equally suitable for mom and baby. The delicate and fragrant scent of our oil ensures unforgettable moments together with your baby.
All ALMA Babycare products are made from only the highest quality raw materials and are specifically designed to meet the special needs of delicate baby skin and can therefore be used from birth. The oil in particular is not only an important companion in baby care, but also supports the bonding between parents and baby thanks to our special ALMA essential oil mixture.
The topic of “green-washing” is incredibly widespread in the cosmetics industry. The customer is suggested that he is buying a natural product. Manufacturers work here with packaging, coloring and visual elements. For example, the mention of lavender oil is often enough to make the customer believe that they are buying a green product. There is no legal regulation at European level as to when something can be called “natural cosmetics”. Austria is an exception here, we have stricter laws regarding labeling. The composition of cosmetic products is difficult for customers to understand, which makes green washing easier than in the area of food. Thank God, many initiatives and websites have been developed in recent years that help consumers to realistically assess their products and their ingredients.
Natural products cost more than petroleum products, although unfortunately there is no conclusive explanation behind this. And raw materials from organic farming cost a lot more. This has to do with the fact that they are often small businesses that treat nature and the soil with care. Handwork is an important factor and all people involved in production are paid fairly.
Apart from individual components such as the scent, the use of organically grown raw materials is a must in my opinion. Baby skin is so thin and permeable to all the substances it comes into contact with, and unfortunately this also applies to pollutants. It should therefore be a matter of course to pay attention to appropriate quality.
For us it was a given from the start that the entire Alma Babycare series would be certified by Austria Bio Garantie.
Since there are no uniform regulations at European level, private law standards are used. The COSMOS standard, Natrue and ECEAE are international guarantees for the corresponding raw materials and production. In Austria there is the code chapter “Organic Cosmetics and Natural Cosmetics” which is certified by the Austria Bioguarantee. The quality seals of these certifications can always be found on the packaging of the products. This provides some orientation in the existing flood of products.
However, many manufacturers have simply developed their own emblems that suggest that the cosmetics have been produced or tested accordingly. However, this is not the case; the products then simply correspond to internal standards. It is important to know that natural cosmetics are not the same as organic cosmetics, but that the latter represents a sub-area. Because plant active ingredients can of course also come from non-organic cultivation.
In contrast to paraffin or silicone oils, vegetable oils can be easily absorbed into the skin. These form a film that feels smooth and pleasant when applied, but due to the foreign substances that the skin doesn't know what to do with, it is hindered in its function and loses important abilities in the long term. Vegetable oils differ enormously, just in their chemical structure. The skin is able to incorporate oleic acids and secondary plant active ingredients such as antioxidants or vitamins directly into the cell membrane. This is of course even more true for thin, permeable baby skin.
Essential oils are a highly concentrated plant product. The use of exclusively organically grown material is particularly important to us because any chemicals used in the production of essential oils accumulate. You often hear that essential oils cause skin irritations due to their high concentration - in experience this is almost never the case with organically grown products. Most of the time these are oils that were obtained from conventionally grown plants or that are no longer fresh when used. The dosage also plays an important role – especially with baby products, “less is more”.
Apricot kernel oil has a very delicate smell that blends well with the body scent. This is very important for babies and bonding because it doesn't overpower the mother's smell. This way, baby and parents can smell each other well.
Avocado oil is an all-rounder, it has an almost waxy character, gives the skin a velvety feel and protects very well. At the same time, it also penetrates deeply into the skin.
We chose poppy seed oil because it absorbs particularly well and easily into the skin, it is very delicate and is also a great regional product.
When it comes to scents, we chose “kid-friendly” aromas that adults also like to smell.
Mandarin is a calming scent and at the same time a real “happymaker”.
Benzoin envelops and provides protection, like an aromatic blanket.
The rose geranium is considered a mediator, it has a harmonizing effect and promotes communication.
The Atlas cedar is this huge, strong tree that provides incredible support and roots - which is good for baby and parents alike during this turbulent time. With its woody aroma, the oil also has a skin-stabilizing effect and acts as a kind of anti-histamine.
They are reduced, almost minimalist feel-good products with that certain something and made from very, very high-quality ingredients. An oil is in itself a simple product and the quality of the raw material is incredibly important.
We deliberately chose restrained aromas so as not to interfere with the fragile scent balance between parent and child. All products are very mild and gentle so as not to disturb the development of baby's sensitive skin.
The products are developed, tested, mixed, stirred and bottled in our factory in Vienna's 2nd district. A very complex, quality-assured and careful process.
Our producer knows all suppliers personally. You can be sure that all plants and natural raw materials come from small, controlled organic farms. The companies treat nature and the soil carefully and extract the highest quality oils from leaves, fruits and seeds.
The product recipes were developed together with the biochemist, aromatherapist and founder of “Less is More”, Dr. Doris Brandhuber, developed.
What was important to us? We wanted to combine the highest quality and best raw materials from nature in an irresistibly fragrant overall composition that is specifically tailored to the special needs of delicate baby skin.
